Whether you’re a Shakespeare fan already or looking to discover more about the world of the celebrated playwright and his theatre, this Globe Exhibition and Tour for two is a truly fascinating experience and a look into the life of one of the biggest names in literature. You’ll enjoy a tour of the Globe, which was faithfully reconstructed in the 1990s to exactly resemble the original theatre, built in 1599. You’ll learn more about London as it was then, Shakespeare’s life and works and how the theatre functions now. You’ll also get to go underneath the theatre, where interactive displays will really bring to life this venerated venue and its history. Ideal for students, fans of literature and those wishing to find out a little more about the man behind the plays, this is education – but it isn’t boring!
You will enjoy a half-hour tour with a friendly guide, who will teach you about the original Globe, London in 1599 and give you some context for Shakespeare’s plays – what influenced him, where he was living when he wrote, what theatres he wrote for etc. You will also hear about the 1990s reconstruction of the original theatre, and the methods used to keep it faithful to the original. As part of this experience you will both also receive full-day access to the exhibition housed beneath the theatre, which you may explore at your leisure.
