All she has to do is turn up for the Christening. Like a wedding there may be a rehearsal before. The Priest may have a discussion with the parents and the Godmother to express how important this position is. However, it is customary for the Godmother to give the child a Godchild Gift. Godchild Gifts can be a personalised cutlery set or a personalised christening bracelet.  Also it is normal for the parents to give out Godmother Gifts from the godchild.
